Many children are on a plant based diet.

The Food and Drug Administration has said they are safe for children and young adults.

The federal government recently said it will require manufacturers to include information about plant-containing ingredients in all foods.

The new guidance comes as Canada is preparing to launch a national food plan, including new child-friendly products and a child-focused food service.

The U.S. government has also recently proposed new federal guidelines to help parents make better choices.

As well, the government is reviewing its childhood nutrition plan and wants to ensure there is more evidence supporting the benefits of plant-food consumption.
