Chinese restaurant chain Tang Dynasty has come under fire after one of its servers posted photos on social media of the food he served to his customers.

In the photos posted on Sina Weibo, one of the server’s friends posted that he had cooked bitter herbs in the past, but had stopped doing so after getting the company to remove the food from its menu.

In a statement, Tang Dynasty’s company wrote: “It is a common practice in Chinese restaurants to serve the most common ingredients for a dish: bitter herb, garlic, soy sauce and soya sauce.

We are constantly updating our menu to reflect these changes.”

It added that the company “continues to look into the issue.”

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the post, and will continue to work with our customers to eliminate this practice,” the statement said.

“The post has caused a lot of concern for the customers, and we hope this can be resolved quickly so we can serve them our best food.”
